Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico is a beach town oasis removed from the tourist traps found scattered throughout the rest of the country. Hidden in a small inlet on the Sea of Cortez, it has long been a private vacation spot for those seeking a fun, family-oriented excursion.  

Downtown Rocky Point is still a charming fishing village with shrimp vendors and

open air restaurants as well as enclosed cafes and other eateries.

Curio shops can be found as well as bars for dancing and night time libations.

The Rocky Point "Rodeo Drive" features everything from high-end jewelry to pottery and hand-made goods.  Restaurants and shops for every venue can be found all over town as well as at the resorts.   

Rocky Point is only a four hour drive from Phoenix, yet because it is off the beaten path from most major border crossings (enter through Lukeville, AZ), it is safe and unaffected. Arizonans have invested in beach property for decades, so there is an element of Americanization mixed with the authentic Mexican fiesta atmosphere. For those who crave adventure, boat, jet ski, Rhino, and ATV rentals are easily available.  

Deep sea fishing boats can be booked for the fisherman at heart. Parasailing, banana boats, and other sports are all available at reasonable prices for the ultimate in family fun.
